Hello DMS parents/guardians, this is Mr. Rogers sending out information regarding our next upcoming middle school dance. The dance is scheduled from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, January 17th in the DMS Gym and the cost is $5 for students to attend. The theme of the dance is "Winter Formal" and students must be academically and behaviorally eligible to attend. The DMS dance is a co-curricular event whereas only DMS registered students are allowed to attend. If you child(ren) are not eligible to attend, they will be told on that week. Being that the dance has a theme of "Winter Formal", students are still expected to abide by the DMS dress code. Students are not allowed to wear any type of Lei necklace, hat, or corset flowers. Please know this is not a formal prom; girls are not expected and are discouraged from buying and/or wearing a prom style dress. A nice pants outfit is acceptable. Boys may wear slacks and a nice button-up shirt if they would like. Students are NOT required to dress up for this dance if they do not want to. Parents/guardians please do not spend or feel pressured to spend a great amount of money on a fancy new dress/outfit to be worn one time. Reach out to our office at 683-2368, option #2 if you have questions or need clarification. Very Respectfully, Mr. Rogers

DMS Concert
Dear families of Dillon Middle School Band and Choir students, All the students have been working very hard this semester to expand their skills. They are eager to show you what they have learned. Their concert is Thursday, December 19th at 7 pm. Concerts are a required part of all DMS music classes and are a large portion of the student’s grade. Students will need to arrive at the DMS Library at 6:15 pm wearing their concert appropriate clothes. A concert is a special time for your students to impress you, and their peers, with their skills. As such, it is all important for students to dress up for the occasion. Dressing up includes khaki’s, dress slacks, button up shirts, and dresses that are school appropriate in length. It does not include jeans, sweatpants, sweatshirts, and tee shirts with graphic logos on it. If you have any questions about the concert, the concert report time, or the concert dress expectations please feel free to reach out to me. Email is best. Thank you, Jessica Kidd , DMS Band and Choir Teacher

Hello DMS parents/guardians, this is Mr. Rogers sending out information regarding a change to policy regarding field trips at Dillon Middle School. This message is being sent via email and is posted on the district website and Facebook page. Recently, at the December 2024 board meeting, the board of trustees of Dillon Elementary School District #10 approved a change to the DMS handbook regarding field trips. For the past number of years, Dillon Middle School students have been graded using a field trip rubric to determine eligibility for their grade level field trip that occurs in the spring of each year. Due to continued concerns regarding this procedure, the district will now use the updated and approved process to determine eligibility on field trips at Dillon Middle School starting immediately. Dillon Middle School will no longer use the field trip rubric. Listed below are the changes in the DMS handbook. Field trips, odysseys, dances and extracurricular activities are an integral part of the middle school experience. These are open to any DMS student who has demonstrated responsible citizenship in and out of school and is considered in good standing. In the event a student does not earn the right or chooses not to participate he/she must still attend school and will have an alternate schedule for that day. Students are expected to travel to and from school trips with the group and district staff. Convenience will not be a legitimate reason for varying from this procedure. The only exceptions are as follows: 1. Injury to a participant which would require alternate transportation. 2. Prior arrangements IN WRITING made with the teacher/principal by the parents before leaving for the event. A student will be disqualified from attending a field trip and/or odyssey if he/she falls into one or more of the following categories. 1. If a student receives 3 or more cumulative write ups in a school year, they are disqualified from attending a field trip. (One major incident could disqualify a student per administration discretion I.E.-weapons, drugs, threats, etc.) 2. If a student receives 15 or more cumulative refocuses in a school year, they are disqualified from attending a field trip. 3. If a student has a cumulative GPA of 1.99 or less for the school year, they are disqualified from attending a field trip. 4. If a student has missed 15% or higher cumulative days for the school year, they are disqualified from attending a field trip. If you have questions or need clarification on this new process, please feel free to reach out to our office at 683-2368, option 2. Very Respectfully, Mr. Rogers
